Up to £1,000 cash award to the Bristol community, to create a project that will increase awareness and buying of Fairtrade in the city.
Fairtrade is a different way of doing trade – one that seeks to combat the injustices that can be present in conventional trade and put people first. Fairtrade works with agreed, international standards designed and audited to ensure that producers in developing countries get a better deal. With a fair price that covers the costs of production and an additional social premium for producer groups to invest in projects they decide will bring the greatest local benefits, such as education, health care and fresh water. Bristol Fair Trade Network works with primary producers, businesses, local authorities, consumers and local people to promote the awareness, the retailing, the sales and the consumption of Fairtrade in the city.
2025 is the 20th Anniversary of Bristol being a Fairtrade city, so we want to use the occasion to highlight how 20 years of promoting the benefits of Fairtrade has helped to make the FAIRTRADE Mark a leader of life-changing impact for farmers and workers across the world.
Fairtrade Fortnight will be from Monday 22nd September – Sunday 5th October 2025.
In this special year Bristol Fair Trade is seeking to offer cash awards to the Bristol community, to create a project that will increase awareness and buying of Fairtrade in the city to help celebrate 20 years of action.
Sparks Bristol is a sustainability hub in the ex-M&S building in Broadmead Bristol which attracts on average 9,000 visitors per week.
Bristol Fair Trade Network would love to engage those visitors with Fairtrade, and is offering up to £1,000 for an artwork or interactive installation that will excite people about the difference that Fairtrade makes and encourage them to buy Fairtrade goods. Ideally, this should work for all ages and be vibrant and interactive.

The installation will be on display in the Food Dept in Sparks Bristol so it needs to be robust and freestanding. As Sparks is a Sustainable Department store, it needs to be made from mostly recycled or reusable materials.
Closing date for application end of Sunday 6th July 2025
